Fantastic article with some great points! I enjoy analogies so I appreciated that traffic laws analogy. Another great analogy has to do with kites: by putting restrictions on it (the string) it can fly as high as you’ll let it. However, if you cut the string, the kite will plummet to the ground…

Thanks Bret! You’re so right. Communicating this is tough… you can say it and say it again but your audience has to experience it to actually ‘get it’. I used the traffic laws as an example… there are so many rules we have to follow while driving but it is our societal acceptance of these rules that makes driving safe and liberating… without such rules there would be chaos on the roads and no one would be safe or free.
