Good comment Diane... being debt free will make you question taking on more debt even if at 0% and a track record of early payoffs. Not yet arriving at the debt free milestone, I'd have to imagine that getting wound back into debt after working so hard to shed it is no fun even if you handle it as safely as possible.

Congrats again on your progress and new goals (I have a goal series launching this Friday!)... you'll have to visit again to keep us posted on your progress!

Congratulations to you and your wife on being nearly debt free! I'm there, with the exception of my mortgage, and it feels great! I still have credit cards and use them, but pay them off every month.

The only debt I carry at times is for home improvements, because I have a Home Depot account with 0% interest for 6 or 12 months. Sometimes I use their money and pay it off monthly, rather than use my own savings. I'm disciplined about it, so it works for me.

Problem is the longer I go without debt the more reluctant I am to use the credit card without paying it off monthly - even at 0% interest!

My new goal now that debt is paid is to reduce my overall spending and increase my savings, particularly for retirement. I'm focused!
