Goal Setting – February 2010
February 2, 2010 by: Dave Ozment
Introduction
So January is down… when did that happen? 2010 is already 1/12 complete. Have you accomplished 1/12 of your goals for the year?
Hey, it’s a fair question and to be honest with you, I have not. I guess it’s part excuse and part explanation, but I’ve been snowed under at work in a way that I did not anticipate. That’s a good thing, job security is what my grandfather calls it, and as right as that is, it also serves as a wake up call to my dedication and motivation to accomplish my goals in other areas.
So here’s the recap. I trust you’re ahead of my current pace, but watch out. I’m going to turn this thing around. I’m still very excited – perhaps moreso now… – in the prospects 2010 holds.
| Context Setting for New Readers – Welcome! On this site, I’ve invested considerable time sharing, exploring, and refining my approach to goal setting. I try to outline goals along 8 unique fronts which together help me – as I accomplish my targets – remain rounded and balanced. My eight fields of focus include:Spiritual, Financial, Career, Personal Development, Physical, Family, Social, and Household.I also layer time horizons across each category to ensure I am able execute in the moment while maintaining an alertness in the end game. For 2010, I am incorporating a new facet into my experiment in self improvement – Public Accountability – and that’s what you’ve stumbled into. Please feel free to check out any of my previous articles on this topic for additional context and exploration. Man in Full

So far this year I have accomplished my Bible reading goals and fitness goals for the first month. I did however find that I needed to adjust my fitness challenge if I was going to countinue meeting my monthly goals. So, I have already made an adjustment this year. Have you found yourself making adjustments in the area you didn’t meat?

Hey DG… adjustments are the name of the goal game. I view life as series of imbalances that equal out over time to create a larger sense of balance. Given than backdrop, my work life is well out of balance at the moment but I’m striving to make progress against that monster and still find time for my other pursuits. I’m behind now, but hope to round a corner soon.
Keep up the good work!
Dave
What do you have in mind for vacation destinations?
steven@hundredgoals.com´s last blog ..January Wrap Up
Good question… we were planning a 2 week trip to California with time in Napa and a few days driving the coastline… it would be a remake of a previous trip when we had a great time AND realized we needed much more time to cover more of what there was/is to do and see.
However, some changes to our status quo have emerged which will require us to scale down our plans. We’re looking now at a few more practical and economical long weekends out of town…. more to come.
