Thanks... I did invest more time in the healthcare series... but it was a lot of fun. I'm pleased that you enjoyed it.

Hey Jonathan... you know, I bet our debate and posturing is amusing from your vantage point. I didn't really imagine that component when I wrote these pieces... I'll be really interested in your thoughts around my proposed solutions later in the week. I won't spoil it here with commentary, but I welcome a discourse once I've placed all my cards face up on Friday.

Thanks!

Living over in the UK I have read with bemusement about the ongoing health care reforms and the crazy notion that someone if the US government pays for an increased number of individuals to have access to free healthcare because they are the poorest and most disaffected, then the whole country will turn into a communist state and that socialism is a bad thing. Here in the UK (a Capitalist deomocracy like the US) we have had free or heavily subsidised healthcare for decades and we haven't yet ended up hoisting a red flag with a hammer and sickle on it!!!!! There are many benefits to making healthcare freely available to the poorest not least because the less ill they are the more they will be able to contribute in a productive way to society, meaning less dependency on the government and the more tax they will pay on their earnings.
