Money may not mean happiness, but having no money causes lots of stress and discomfort. Regarding the options that money provides - it is best to use some financial discipline. Those who work for their money and live below their means save money, know its value, and keep their options open by not abusing or wasting the money. Many that fall on wealth from lotteries or inherit money are not so fortunate. It seems the key to having options is to live below your means and if you amass a lot of money, then spend a little more.

Hi,
Yes money certainly gives us options they can be good or bad dependant on the thinking of the individual. Some will use their money for good purposes others for not so good purposes like indulging in excess pleasures which can impact negatively if abused. One must exercise even more discipline and wil power when gifted with money. It is the reason many lottery winners have ended up losing all their winnings after a few years and ended up financially worse off than before they had won the lottery.

Clearly your open minded and receptive to other ideas. Many people in the online community are a little more totalitarian. bookmarked well done Of course-- and I probably shouldn't even have to say this-- people are free to run their own blogs as they see fit. But I get the highest value from blogs where either the author's writing is so outstanding that the lack of comments isn't material a combination of good writing and good comments leaving my personal Research weblog if you dont mind wael kfoury

Hi,

interesting thoughts!

I believe it’s not possible to make a general statement on whether money makes people more or less happy. Money comes with a whole set of new elements that may have good or bad impact on our happiness, and depending on how susceptible we are to every one of them, the conclusion will go one way or the other (i.e. different from person to person).

I recently made an effort to provide a more comprehensive picture of what these ad- and disadvantages are. I invite you to have a look at Money and Happiness and tell me what you think!

Thank you,
